About Us

Frostings Cupcake Boutique was established November 2008. They started out working from home, but soon order’s where booming and they needed a place of their own. The team got to work with all the planning and dreamt up a quaint bakeshop in High Street. By June 2009 they moved into their new bakery on Rodgers Street, Rosenpark. In 2010 the head chef (Liesl Jansen van Rensburg) was offered to buy the bakery from the previous owners. What a difficult decision it was since she was only 22 years at this stage. After careful consideration and a lot of prayer, Liesl decided that she couldn’t let this opportunity slip through her fingers. Liesl is an internationally qualified chef. She did her first year of training at the Higgs School of Cooking, under David Higgs and Wade van der Merwe. She studied a further two years to acquire her international qualification. Straight after her studies, whilst still looking for the right job opportunity, she did freelance work for Ideas Magazine. This opened a lot of doors and soon she worked part time at a guest house. After a few months she received a phone call from Frostings, accepting her application as a chef at their bakery. She has never looked back ever since. In 2011 it was time to move the bakery again, since the space had already become too small. Frostings is now located in Durbanville and operates as a professional bakery. It is run by Liesl and her team of chefs. They specialise in sweet and blissful baked products.
